Christian life is more than 90 minutes on a Sunday! We love to hang out and get to know each other. Be prepared to make new friends!
What to Expect
We believe that God answers prayer. Countless times we have seen miracles because of the prayer in Life Groups. Every group incorporates a time of prayer into their meeting.
Each group usually has some form of discussion on a spiritual topic. Don’t worry, you don’t need to be a scholar to engage in the discussion – you just have to be a real person!
Mmmmmm. There’s usually a wonderful snack at Life Group. Some groups go all out and do a BBQ or a potluck. But due to COVID-19, most groups have modified how they do this.
Find a Group
You can find the perfect group for you - Life Groups
meet at many locations in Leduc and the surrounding areas.

dates and study topics.
Nathan and Shauna Balehowsky | Leduc Caledonia
Nathan & Shauna have been at Daystar for almost five years. You will find Shauna helping in the Little Lambs room and Nathan greeting at the doors. They have 3 kids – Hanna, Alissa and Jared. When they aren’t watching their kids’ sport games they like to keep active at the lake in the summer and sledding in the winter.
Jonathan and Terrena Clarke | Leduc Meadowview
Bio coming soon!
Pastor Sharla and Steve Keim | Leduc Meadowview
Chris and Shelley Neilson | Leduc Westhaven
Seth and Angela Paine | Leduc Bridgeport
Originally from PEI, Seth & Angela Paine met at 14 years of age. Together for 31 years, married for 25 years! Work brought them from PEI to Vancouver Island in 2000. The Lord then brought them to Leduc and Daystar 6 years ago. They have 2 children: Samara, and Aaron. They like hiking, campfires, and eating out (no dishes…woohoo).
Jack and Deb Vanderhoef | Leduc Windrose
Jack and Deb are deacons at Daystar church and love serving. You’ll see them greeting at the doors, attending the debit desk, or on the Prayer Team. Jack and Deb have been married 34 years, have three grown children and four fabulous grandchildren. Jack’s love of his flower gardening keeps Deb happy with her love of receiving flowers.
Carman and Robin Doan | Calmar
Carman is a prodigal son, now happily back in God’s fold . He is creative and known for quirky Christian t-shirt designs. Robin believes there are 6 love languages – the 6th is to feed people! Their Life Group unofficially starts right after church on Sundays with a nice pot of soup and great fellowships, before the actual teaching at 2:30.
Ron and Grace Fink | Beaumont
Ron and Grace are young at heart but old enough to get the Senior’s discount at restaurants. They enjoy the company of friends of all ages and can hardly wait to get to know you. They hope to provide a friendly, casual, comfortable, and caring environment, where you’ll develop relationships that will outlast the Life Group season.
Pastor Nialle and Vanessa Travnik | Millet
Pastor Nialle and Vanessa have four kids and a large cat who has somehow made his way into their home. You can often find Nialle and Vanessa in the kitchen trying out new recipes or making old favourites. A little known fact about Nialle is that he is better at recalling past meals than he is remembering his own children’s birthdays.
Aaron and Renee Ursulak | Millet
Aaron and Rene have attended Daystar since the very beginning (22 years)! They have two married children and one adorable grandson. They enjoy filling their cozy Millet acreage with friends, coffee and chocolate! When they are not hosting, Aaron and Rene enjoy cruising around in and looking at classic cars.
